The Memorial Tournament Breakdown

This week we stay in Dublin, Ohio for The Memorial Tournament. This Jack Nicklaus tournament has been a regular stop on tour since founded in 1976.

We have a stacked field this week to choose from when building our rosters. Again as always, I use FantasyDraft as my go-to site for all fantasy golf. And all picks are based off of their values on that site.

So looking at where to build a lineup, you have to look at a few details. Patrick Cantlay is the defending champion and playing great golf so far this season. Bryson DeChambeau is the odds on favorite to win the event at 10-1. And the top 5 players in the FedEx Cup standings are all in the event.

With so many high priced players in the huge 144 player field, it is going to be tough to really pluck the right people out to build around.

Instead of spending 17500 or 17400 on DeChambeau and Justin Thomas, I rather go with defending champ Cantlay and Webb Simpson who has played top tier golf this season so far (a 1st and 8th in his last 2 events).

If you are thinking of rolling the dice wtih Tiger Woods, think again. He has not played yet since the restart, and although is a 5 time winner of the event, he has not won here since 2012. He is all over the place in this event in the last 8 years (whether because of injuries or inconsistent play).

Building the rest of the roster after Cantley and Simpson, I continue with loving Xander Schauffle, who never misses the cut and Gary Woodland who has 2 top 10s in the last 4 events played. Schauffle and Simpson are both steals at just 15500 this week.

And then you need to round out with some cheaper player options. Chez Reavie, Matt Wallace, and Matthew Fitzpatrick all offer great values. All make a majority their cuts and all performed well at this golf course last week (finishing top 39 or better).

Good luck to everyone playing this week. Hope everyone makes money and keeps building that bankroll for football season!
