Much maligned Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Nathan Gerry, who’s play has been offensive as of late, found himself in hot water after offensive past tweets surfaced. Several tweets were discovered in which Gerry casually used the N word. It’s worth noting that the post were made when Gerry was just 17 years old. However, that didn’t spare him from criticism.
My son has been a lifelong Nate Gerry fan and the fact that he’s using the “N” word in this social climate is heart wrenching to him. Something has to be done or I’m never coming to another game ever again!!!!!!!! @Eagles— ☠️ (@FLAMINGOOLEE) October 8, 2020
News of Gerry’s past mistakes was met with differing opinions. Some felt he should be punished even cut, while others believed it was a long time ago and shouldn’t be held against him. I personally fall in the middle. While the tweets in no way should get him cut, he does need to be admonished for them.
Gerry Issues Apology
Gerry Issued an apology on his twitter page this evening in hopes that his immature and offensive remarks can be forgiven. And in the end that’s all we can really ask of him. Be sincere in your apology and never let such a thing happen again.
