Report: Sixers Pushing to Host 2026 NBA All Star Game

Philadelphia: As we know the City of Philadelphia has been able to host some of the sports marquee events like NCAA Basketball, All Star games, World Series, Stanley Cup Finals, looks like we may see another event coming to the city. 

Report came out on Monday that the Philadelphia 76ers are pushing to host the 2026 NBA All Star Game, why 2026, that year it will mark the USA 250th Birthday 

From the report of CNBC’s Jabari Young “the Sixers are working with Philadelphia officials and Comcast, which owns the Wells Fargo Center, to host an NBA All-Star game in 2026.”

That would be huge for the City of Philadelphia in 2026 they are currenlty scheduled to host
2026 MLB All-Star Game at Citizens Bank Park
2026 PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club Newtown Square
2026 NCAA men’s basketball first & second round at Wells Fargo Center

Philadelphia is still in the running to be one of the cities for the 2026 World Cup which would be played at Lincoln Financial Field

The City of Philadelphia have hosted the NBA All Star Game 4 Previous times
1960, 1970, 1976 & 2002.

The 2002 game which featured a couple of things:

The Final year of the NBA on NBC
Michael Jordan playing for the Wizards
Current Sixers GM Elton Brand played in the game for the Clippers 
Allen Iverson & Dikembe Mutombo were the Sixers reps in the All Star game
Kobe Bryant  had a big day & got boooooo

Tracy McGrady  playing for the Orlando Magic had a very Sick Dunk in the game

Kobe Bryant would score 31 points to be named All Star game MVP

Michael Jordan would score 8 points but had a moment that he would not want back when he blew a breakaway dunk

Allen Iverson would score 6 points in the game & would wear number 6 in Tribute to Sixers great Dr J

During the 2019-20 season, the Sixers hosted their first Christmas Day game since 1988 & they took apart the Milwaukee Bucks.

City of Philadelphia is going to be the place to be in 2026, so stay tuned.
