Temple Struggles Down South

Earlier this afternoon the Temple Owls took the field down in Memphis to face the Tigers. The game started off slowly with Memphis scoring a Touchdown with 5:29 left in the first and Temple added a Field Goal at the 1:42 mark.

In the Second quarter, Temple gained a lead of 15-10 at half. Temple had a pair of Touchdowns, 1 to Jadan Blue and 1 to Branden Mack while all Memphis could manage was a 42 yard field goal. Temple attempted 2 point conversion on both TDs and both failed. Temple took a 15-10 margin into the half.

Coming out for the 3rd quarter Temple gave up 17 unanswered points before Anthony Russo could connect with Jadan Blue for a 32 yard TD reception at 2:37 left in the 3rd.

Memphis added some cushion to their lead quickly with a TD with 12:02 left in the fourth. Temple came right back to cut the lead to 5 with 10:11 left on Jadan Blue’s 3rd touchdown reception. There was no more scoring, just good defense, until Memphis sealed the game with a TD at the 2:15 mark. Memphis took home 41-29 victory. Temple fell to 1-2 and Memphis climbed to 3-1.

Numbers highlights for the Owls. Anthony Russo completed 41 passes on 63 attempts for a total of 387 yards. He completed 4 TDs, 3 to Blue and 1 to Mack, but also threw 3 interceptions. Ra’Mahn Davis carried the ball 20 times for 113 yards.

It appeared when Memphis opened up a lead in the 3rd, Temple pushed for the passing game, while they were having success with Davis and the running game. Temple was never really out of the game but it looked like they were grinding too much and playing catch up ball for the whole 2nd half. Stay Temple Strong.
