Great Eats Outside of Philadelphia

I wanted to start by giving everyone a “Dining On A Dime” tip. If you have a Septa weekly or monthly transpass, you can use it to ride the Septa Regional Rail Line to any place that you want to on Saturdays and Sundays, so obviously, I take advantage of this perk and go to the suburbs every weekend. This list is just a few of the great places that I have found recently. I haven’t been everywhere so feel free to leave us your favorite Philadelphia suburb restaurant in the comments section or tweet @diningonadime1 with suggestions on where to eat next.

Minella’s Diner. Have you had a pizza omelet? It’s worth a try.

#5-Minella’s Diner 320 W Lancaster Ave Wayne Pa— This diner has been voted best on the Main Line several times. It remains one of the very few places where I have gone to repeatedly and was never a letdown. Breakfast, dinner, drinks, and everything in between is what you’ll find here.

The view and variety will keep you coming back to Timothy’s.

#4– Timothy’s On The Riverfront 930 Justison St Wilmington DE— I skipped over this place a hundred times on my regional rail trips to Wilmington DE, and I’m glad I finally decided to stop. I was impressed with their variety of burger choices and more importantly, how great the burgers were. It is a really nice spot on the riverfront. There are also West Chester and Lionville, PA locations to visit.

It’s as good inside as the outside looks.

#3–Washington St Ale House 1206 Washington St Wilmington DE— Another place in Wilmington that really exceeded my expectations and you can walk there from the regional rail. Saturday’s are BBQ days and Wednesday means a box lunch special menu. They also have a very strong tap list.

You’ll never miss that distinctive green bubble.

#2–MCcloskeys Tavern 17 Cricket Ave Ardmore Pa— Established in 1934, you can see it why it has stayed around by the food, and really good burger always cooked to a perfect temperature. The oldest Irish pub on the Main Line, with unique takes on the standard fare. Try the Apple Jameson wing sauce.

Come for the beer, and you might as well eat too!

#1–TJ’s Restaurant & Drinkery 35 Paoli Plaza Paoli Pa— I was very impressed, I had their burger with roast beef on top, it was really good, but the best part was the horseradish on the roast beef, which kicked everything up a notch. It’s also been voted Best of the Main Line and has been acknowledged by RateBeer and Beer Advocate as a great craft beer bar as well.

These are just my personal favorites, from the last few weeks. I am not saying that these are the best restaurants in the suburbs, hopefully, you get a new favorite spot from this list.
