Not the Philadelphia kind, but the Boston College variety.
Jack St. Ivany, a Flyers 4th round 112th overall pick in 2018, has entered the NCAA transfer portal with the intention of transferring from Yale University to Boston College. The move comes as the junior faces the prospect of missing his season as the Ivy League cancels their sports season by season.
St. Ivany’s transfer was originally reported by Jeff Cox in his New England Hockey Journal report “Yale lost a top-pairing defenseman when Jack St. Ivany entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, likely to head to Boston College. The Manhattan Beach, Calif., native would be eligible to play for the Eagles once the first semester is over. St. Ivany was a fourth-round pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2018 NHL Draft”. The news was also tweeted by Brad Elliott Schlossman of the Grand Forks Herald.
Ivany enters his junior season now in Hockey East. Through his first two seasons at Yale, St. Ivany played 62 games totaling 7 goals and 23 assists for 30 points. In his sophomore season, his 1 goal and 15 assists for 16 points were good for most of any Yale defender. He also appeared in 7 games for the Team USA U20 World Junior Championship team.
The 21-year-old prospect will be able to begin playing for BC in January. The move also moves the date for the Flyers to sign him to an entry-level deal to August 15th, 2022.
