The Philadelphia Eagles have named Jalen Hurts their new starting quarterback for their game with the New Orleans Saints. Head coach Doug Pederson made the announcement this afternoon after two days of speculation. The 2nd round pick replaced Carson Wentz in the third quarter Sunday, and threw a touchdown pass. The move also seemed to energize the rest of the roster.
What Does This Mean?
For the short term it means the franchise is done waiting for their original signal caller to correct his mistakes. Hurts will most likely finish the season in place of Wentz who leads the league in interceptions and is near the top in total turnovers. This also means the Eagles have bailed on the season. It’s hard to believe Philadelphia has any faith that they can win the division after making a move like this.
The Eagles should probably start looking towards the draft. If they are in full tank mode, then they should be picking in the top 6 or 7 picks. With a move of this magnitude they are staring at the most important off season in the teams history.
