Eagles Lose Shoot Out To Cardinals 33-26

The Philadelphia Eagles came in to Week 15 with their season on life support. A loss would make playoff birth nearly impossible. They were hoping for another week of magic from rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts, but they have a tough task ahead of them in the electric Arizona Cardinals.

First Quarter.

Philadelphia started the game off with a turnover in the red zone. However it amounted to nothing. As a mental mistake by their young quarterback ruined their momentum. Hurts under pressure threw the ball away in the end zone resulting in an intentional grounding penalty and a safety. Arizona would then score on back to back drives and put the Eagles down 16-0 after one quarter of play.

The Cardinals would answer with a field goal and push the lead back up to 12. Philadelphia would later capitalize on an Arizona fumble and cut the lead to 5 on Hurts second touchdown pass of the game.

Unfortunately the defense couldn’t hold and Kyler Murray and company marched right back down the field and scored to make the the score 26-14 with two minutes left in the half. The Birds were not done though as Hurts connected with Greg Ward in the end zone for the second time to make it a one possession game. And that’s how the half would end, Cardinals up 26-20.

Third Quarter.

The Eagles first drive of the second half started off promising but eventually ended in a punt. However the defense would stop the Cardinals on the other end. Arizona threaten to score again but the Philly defense came up with a rare red zone interception to stay within a touchdown. Philly would finally breakthrough and tie the game on a Hurts run, but a botched extra point would stop them from taking the lead. The third quarter would come to an end with the scored tied 26-26.

Fourth Quarter.

Arizona unleashed some trickery to start the fourth quarter. A successful fake punt led to the Cardinals getting deep into Eagles territory. Luckily the defense wouldn’t make up for the special teams mistake with a fourth down stop. Unfortunately they couldn’t do anything with it and the Cardinals scored a go ahead touchdown with 7:17 to go in the game. When Murray hooked up with DeAndre Hopkins. A last chance drive for the Eagles fizzled in the red zone on fourth Down, after back to back sacks led to a 4th and 21. They’d get one more shot but couldn’t convert on a Hail Mary. The loss drops them to 4-9-1 and last place.
