My 2 Cents

As we approach one of the busiest times of the sports calendar, some of our Philadelphia teams are in a state of flux, and not the flux capacitor. The Sixers brought in a new Director of Basketball Operations who revamped the team around their two rising stars. The Sixers are in first place and the fans, since they are Philly fans, are trying to figure the best trade to get rid of Ben Simmons, one of the 2 rising stars. If you follow the Sixers on a few social media sites, you cannot escape the many trades that fans are suggesting. To me it is disgusting. The Sixers bring in one of the best wheelers and dealers in the league today but our fans being Philadelphia fans are trying to give Daryl Morey some helpful suggestions. Maybe Mr. Morey can give the phans some food suggestions for the best cheesesteak in Philly.

The Phillies also brought in a new Director of Baseball Operations, Dave Dombrowski, one of the better execs in the game. The Phils had more space and answers to fill than the Grand Canyon. Little by little the areas are getting filled, the bullpen is head and shoulders above last year. Adding Jackie Bradley to the lineup adds some pop and a very good centerfielder. That brings us to the infielder and catcher. This is where the Phightins are in flux, major flux. This is where Dombrowski will need to use plenty of mojo. The Atlanta Braves are sniffing around about JT Realmuto, other teams are also talking to him. The Phils have made an offer at what JT was asking but we have not heard any offers from these other suitors. The other big missing piece is DiDi Gregarious. Another player who brings it all every game. There is just under a month until pitchers and catchers report. The Phillies and Dombrowski need to tie this up now. The roller coaster their fans have been on has not been kind; from a from 5 years in first in the division from 07-11 to the bottom of the division being in 4th or 5th from 13 to 17. Within 2 years they went from 1st to worst. So we don’t need that again. Please Mr. Dombrowski let’s get JT and DiDi in the fold.

Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni speaks to the media during the Colts mandatory minicamp at the Colts Complex on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. Colts Minicamp

Just today the Eagles hired a new Head Coach Nick Sirianni. The Offensive Coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts. He is well known for his work with Quaterbacks. He is highly regarded in the coaching world and setting up offensive skill sets. The Birds still need a defensive coordinator with a strong defense with blitzes and deep coverage. Something we didn’t see much of this past year.

The Flyers are their usual selves and are winning more than losing. They lost a tough one tonight to Boston but they will rebound and keep is engaged until April and May.
