The Latest On The Eagles Coaching Staff

The Philadelphia Eagles have made several moves on their coaching staff in the last few days. After the hiring of Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni as head coach, the rest of the staff is starting to take shape. Some new pieces have been added, some have stayed on, and others are seemingly on the way out.

A New DC With A Clear Connection

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network is reporting that the Eagles have hired former Indianapolis defensive backs coach Jonathan Gannon as their new defensive coordinator. Gannon has an obvious relationship with the new head coach and will likely put his imprint on a secondary that has been lack lust for the past few seasons.

Stoutland Ops To Stay.

One member of the coaching staff that had many Eagles fans on pins and needles was offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland. Stoutland had been rumored to take a position on the staff of legendary coach Nick Saban at Alabama, but has decided to stay put in Philadelphia and be a part of the newly formed staff.

Finally, as many suspected, running backs coach Duce Staley has asked to me let out of his contract. It has been reported by NBC’s John Clark that he is frustrated with the lack of opportunities to progress beyond his current standing with the team. Many fans have clamored for Staley to get a shot as a head coach or OC despite his obvious lack of experience. He may get a chance to prove himself elsewhere as multiple teams are rumored to have interest.
