Nick Sirianni Meets the Media

New Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni had his introductory press conference with the media to day. After receiving a ringing endorsement from team owner Jeffery Lurie the first time head coach laid out his plan to succeed in one of the toughest sports cities is in the country.

Opening Remarks

While his nervousness was palpable in the early going, Sirianni began the presser with a long list of thanks. First and foremost the Eagles organization. Then he went on to thank the Indianapolis Colts and very specifically former Philly offensive coordinator and current Colts Head Coach Frank Reich. Sirianni flames to have a learned a lot from Reich, which should bode well for embattled quarter back Carson Wentz.

Fielding Questions About The Roster And Coaching Staff

The first set of questions posed to Sirianni revolved around the current Eagles roster, namely the wideouts, and the new coaching staff. When asked about what he would do with 1st round pick Jalen Reagor he replied he hadn’t seen a lot of film and most of his knowledge of Reagor comes from ore draft scouting. Her remarked about his explosiveness and stated he was exited to work with him.

When asked about his relationship specifically with new defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon and OC Shane Steichen and wether he valued familiarity over experience. Sirianni admitted his liking of the familiarity he has with them but was adamant they are also good coaches that think “similarly about the game” as he does. And that makes for a smooth transition.

First Impressions.

My first impression of the new coach after hearing him speak is that he has a long way to go. Hopefully his stammering and round about way of answering questions is just a product of nerves and being new to the pressures of being a head coach. I will say this he does seem confident in his abilities and I am anxious to see what he does going forward.
