Fan Controlled Football announced its first wave of FANchised tags ahead of tonight’s inaugural draft. Each of the four teams selected one player from a pool of over one hundred hopefuls. Let’s take a quick glimpse into each player.
Troy Evans, Jr. – Wide Receiver
Evans, Jr. is the veteran of the receiver group here in the FCF. The 5’9”, shifty pass catcher has been in professional football leagues since 2013. Playing the bulk of his college ball for the Marshall Thundering Herd, Evans, Jr. put up 1,490 all purpose yards to go along with 8 Touchdowns. Shifting his attention to the Indoor Football League after college, Evans, Jr. has been a staple receiver in the league. In six combined seasons, Evans, Jr. has dished out career numbers that look like this: 293 Receptions, 6,506 All Purpose Yards, and 73 Total Touchdowns. Evans, Jr. is actually related to Beasts co-owner Marshawn Lynch, and someone that the Beasts will rely on in a variety of ways.
David Pindell – Quarterback
Pindell began his college career at Lackawanna College before transferring to the University of Connecticut. During his collegiate career, Pindell put up 5,400 Passing Hards and 68 Total Touchdowns. He spent some time in NFL camps with the Minnesota Vikings and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019. Pindell most recently spent time with the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL. Pindell was personally recruited to join Fan Controlled Football by Glacier Boyz co-owner Quavo. The 6’1” gunslinger looks to bring a true, duel-threat element to the Glacier Boyz offense.
Jackson Erdmann – Quarterback
Jackson Erdmann may not be a familiar name, but don’t let that deter you in any way. Erdmann put up over 11,000 passing yards during his collegiate career at St. John’s University. Erdmann most recently spent time in the Spring League in 2020 for the Blues, backing up Shea Patterson. Wild Aces fans have been clamoring for Erdmann to be tagged by the team, and yesterday, it finally happened. The 6’3” 218 QB has been the best performer on the field in practice, and looks to continue his dominance in the regular season for the Wild Aces.
Johnny Manziel – Quarterback
Johnny Manziel was lured out of professional football retirement to play in the FCF! Close friend and Zappers owner Bob Menery has taken the former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL first round pick under his wing. In doing so, the team subsequently placed one of two franchise tags on Manziel. Manziel is no stranger to playing football in the Spring. He’s played in the CFL for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He most recently played in the now defunct Alliance of American Football for the Memphis Express. The Zappers look to use the former college phenom as it’s starting quarterback this season. With the first ever FCF set to take place tonight (starting at 8 PM EST), these four players get to kick their feet up and see the talent that lands alongside them. The Wild Aces are on the clock…
